Snowboarding
Today my family and I went up skiing and snowboarding for the first time this season. The conditions were amazing. It was like spring skiing with deep-winter powder. After one run, I had all the skill and confidence I had at the end of last year, and I even improved today. My dad and I spent the day on blue runs.
I’m now exhausted, sore, and looking forward to next time. It’s a bit of a long drive, but it’s well, well worth it.

ROCKIES WON!
The Rockies won tonight in the 13th inning, 8-9! Holliday ran into home on a fly-out by Jamey Carroll with zero outs. It looked bad for Colorado when in the top of the 13th, the Padres got a two-run home run. But they pulled out a win, which means they’re going to the playoffs!!
Rockies Game
Last night, we went to see the Colorado Rockies play the San Diego Padres. They played a great game, and very few innings had any scoring at all. However, the Padres managed to pull ahead by two, and despite a strong effort from the Rockies, the game went to San Diego in the end. It was still very enjoyable, and possibly the last one we’ll go to this year.
Rockies vs. Cubs
Earlier this evening we went to the Rockies vs. Cubs game at Coors Field. Last night, Colorado won 2-10, so it was no surprise when Chicago got beat 4-8 tonight. Nevertheless, it was an exciting game. In the first inning, two runners got on base and Matt Holliday hit a three-run homer, and another run was scored after that.
Although the Cubs fans got pretty excited when a player hit a homer putting their score at half that of the Rockies, the normal Cubs fan spirit wasn’t there. When we sang “Take me out to the ballgame” for the seventh inning stretch, normally they yell “Cubbies” in place of “Home Team”, so I naturally yelled “Rockies.” This time, though, I was met with no opposition.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Cubs are in last place.
Site News
I have been very busy pretty much since school got out. I’ve been working for the BVSD doing web design, attending Marching Band practice every Monday night from 6pm-9pm, and participating in C’s Jazz in Summer, a jazz improvisation camp. Of course, I always leave time for playing catch with my brother and dad, playing video games, watching Rockies games and occasionally working on version four of my blog.
Volleyball Games
We started playing volleyball games today! I’m on a team with only a few good people. All of the other people are really bad, but hopefully the good ones can take all of the shots and we can do well.
I am a valuable server when I do it right, because it’s overhead. It goes right between two people, so no one can hit it. It’s pretty awesome.
Also, as long as we can bump and set, we’ll do fine. When we get three hits in a row on our side, we get an extra point, plus that usually means we score anyway. That’s because they’re encouraging us to use the fundamental bump-set-spike combination, and they reward us if we “try to do it.”
Winter Solstice
Ironically, today was the shortest day of the year, but it felt like the busiest.
In the morning, I got up and took a quick shower. We left for the dentist to get sealants on my brother and my teeth, which really left a nasty taste in my mouth. Luckily they gave me mint-flavored gum.
Then, we went home, and our friends picked us up. They took us to the “Peanut Butter Players” Christmas Show. It’s a theatrical group that my friend’s little brother is in. We watched them perform and it was actually pretty good.
After that, I went to my friend’s house and we played video games, Monopoly and California Speed (card game).
Then I went to the Denver Nuggets vs. Washington Wizards game. The Nuggets lost, unfortunately. I think the score was somewhere around 110-116.
And now I’m home and I’ve been playing video games for a while and now I’ll probably go to bed so I don’t have to sleep in all day tomorrow.
WINTER BREAK!!!
YEAH!!! It’s Winter Break!!! I had a piano lesson earlier today also. And tomorrow morning I have a dentist appointment. After the dentist, I get to go see my friend’s brother’s play (it’s a Christmas show). I’ll bring my mp3 player.
And tomorrow night, we’re going to a Nuggets game! (Just my family, not my friend and his family.) So that’ll be pretty awesome.
Then Friday I’m going to my aunt and uncle’s house for a Christmas celebration and we’re going to trade around tree ornaments. Saturday is a Broncos game (hopefully in HD) and Sunday is Christmas! And then I have the rest of winter break to have no school!
Doing Better in Badminton
Now Michael and I are guaranteed third place in the entire league. The “Princesses” got first.
Michael and I have won the finals in the loser’s bracket, and now we’re facing the loser of the championship. If we beat them (which we probably will), we’ll get ourselves second place in the league. On the other hand, if we lose, we’re third in the league.
Today we were undefeated. It looks like we’re getting better. However, one of today’s games was close! (I think we only played one, but it was still close.)
Update:
Today we made it to the championship by beating K&B. The score was somewhere around 15-13.
But now we’re facing the Princesses for first place! It’s a double elimination tournament, so we have to beat them twice. Today we beat them once (11-1) and now we’re in the middle of a game (2-1 them).
I hope we beat them on Monday, because then we get our picture taken with the Silver Birdie! (Silver from Mexico, according to our gym teacher)
